Big band drummers like Sid Catlett, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Louie Belleson, Mel Lewis and Peter Erskine, are just plain bad ass. Stomp’n is my tribute to them in a rap, kinda jazz way. It’s screamin’. Listen for influences from Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham.
Stomp’n at round midnight
Stomp’n my ground still feels right
Passage to the sounds of the unknown
Stomp’n from the jazz room to jazz room
Cool bop, the creative jazz thing.
You’re style, the sound
It’s everything.
Everything
Stomp’n
You gonna swing and sing
You’re gonna swing everything tonight
You’re gonna swing and sing, sing, sing
Your body that’s right
You gonna swing and sing
You’re gonna swing everything tonight
Tonight
You’re gonna swing and sing, sing, sing
Your body into flight
Heh, everybody knows how to swing and sing
So let’s get it together tonight, that’s right.
Stomp’n from jazz room to jazz room
Swing, Sing
Swing, Sing
You gonna swing and sing
You gonna swing and sing
You gonna swing and sing, sing sing
Dance! Let’s swing!
Bring back the jazz tonight, dig.
It’s got rhythm, it doesn’t rhyme,
It swings out front, it swings behind
Four or eight bars phrases
If you can clap, it’s on two.
Word is it’s the swing
This swing’s on you
You gonna swing and sing
You’re gonna swing your body
Tonight
You’re gonna swing and sing, sing, sing
Your body into flight
Dance, let’s swing
We’re gonna bring back the jazz
Tonight
Past midnight
We’re gonna stomp on our ground
Tonight
Stomp’n at round midnight
Stomp’n on some harmonious
Groundsite
We’re gonna stomp on some ground
Tonight
Stomp’n at round midnight
Stomp’n my ground still feels right
Passage to the sounds of the unknown
Stomp’n from the jazz room to jazz room
Cool bop, the creative jazz thing.
You’re style, the sound
It’s everything.
You gonna swing and sing
You’re gonna swing, your body
Tonight
You’re gonna swing and sing, sing, sing
You’re body into flight
Dance, let’s swing
We’re gonna bring back the jazz tonight
Past midnight
We’re gonna stomp on our grounds
Tonight
Stomp’n at round midnight
Stomp’n on some harmonious ground sites.
Stomp’n at round midnight
Stomp’n my ground still feels right
Passage to the sounds of the unknown
Stomp’n from the jazz room to jazz room
Heh, everybody knows how to swing
